Book lovers and community supporters are invited to take part in a fundraising initiative to turn pages into purpose.
From 1 May to 30 June 2026, every donation made at the Community Bookshelf at Tesco Extra will go directly towards supporting the amazing work of the League of Friends who raise funds for Michael Yoakley’s Charity.
Organised by the League of Friends, this initiative offers a simple way to give back: find yourself a book to enjoy in your favourite reading spot, leave a donation and know that every penny is going to a great cause.
Whether you’re discovering a new story or passing along a much-loved read, your participation helps to make a difference. The Community Bookshelf is open to all, so come along, choose a book and leave a donation in the pot. Every penny or pound supports Yoakley’s fundraising efforts.
Do you have books you’ve already enjoyed that you would like to share on? Donations of books are warmly welcomed and can be dropped off at either of the following locations:
Yoakley House
Drapers Close
Margate CT9 4AH
Customer Service Desk
Tesco Extra
475 Margate Road
Westwood
Broadstairs CT10 2QJ
Together, we can turn pages into purpose. Support the Community Bookshelf and help raise funds for Yoakley this May and June.
Keep up to date with Yoakley News to be amongst the first to hear about future events, our work, fundraising and how to get involved
Past fundraisers have enabled installation of a stair lift in the Alms Houses and a hoist to help move residents of the care home.
